• A Real Choice, and Thanks
  Congratulations to Tom Morrison on his victory in the Republican primary. Tom and I will present the voters with a real choice between our different ideas of how to solve the problems Illinois faces.
• Flamm Opposes “Highway Robbery”
  Matt Flamm has announced his opposition to an attempt by Palatine Township Highway Commissioner John Powers to raise his real estate tax levy by more than $200,000.
• Flamm sole Democrat running for District 54
  Matt Flamm announced his candidacy for State Representative in the 54th district Friday. Flamm, 56, will be the only democrat running for the seat next November. “Voters here are educated,” Flamm said. “They make up their minds based on the issues. I think there is an opportunity to give the voters a choice.”

• School District 15 Bond Referendum
  Part of a well-functioning democracy is making sure our election laws are followed. In less than one week, our hardworking volunteers found that more than 10% of the petition signatures were invalid. But it appears that the referendum will be on the November 2nd ballot.
• Why this year may be like 1934
  The Tea Party groups and others have argued that President Obama’s policies, including health care reform, represent “socialism.” So I was struck by the following quote in a review of Jonathan Alter’s new book entitled “The Promise: President Obama, Year One”:
